From SA/SD to OO methods or “The new design problem”

New techniques often involve innovative approaches and a different perspective: Object-Oriented (OO) software development is not an exception. The technological shift from classical approach of structured methods (SA/SD) to evolutionary development and OO methods is not easy. We must give it time and means in terms of training, staff, and support for all to come effective. CMS has joined several R&D projects to test if and how OO can be applied to its software. We share here our considerations and understanding from practical experiences within CMS and RD41 (Moose) OO activities.
