Abstract :
We have investigated the use of a periodically inductively loaded waveguide to obtain low voltage synchronism between an electron beam and a backward electromagnetic wave. The results obtained indicate that for this experimental arrangement, the observed gain as a function of accelerating voltage can be fitted remarkably well by the use of a theory developed for a forward wave interaction in unloaded guides.
