Plate-electrode electrostatic undulators: Field calculation using conformal mapping

Electrostatic undulators may be competitive for millimeter and especially submillimeter periods, having roughly the same field amplitudes as permanent-magnet undulators and indisputable technological advantages. A type consisting of two stacks of plates is considered here. Field calculations were performed using conformal mapping. A method to ensure beam focusing along both transverse coordinates is discussed.
