Abstract
The corona is a discharge where ionization is non thermal. The mono polar corona discharge is usually modeled under (1) all quantities are steady in time (2)all ions and particulates are neglected except for those generated by corona discharge and (3) ion diffusion is neglected and constant mobility for ion is assumed. Zero volts DC is applied to one of the electrode, negative DC voltage is to other electrode. When the flow is at steady-state, space charge density does not change with respect to time. With these modeling conditions the Poisson’s equation and charge conservation equations are used to find field voltage at different points using 2D Finite element modeling (FEM) technique. Step wise solution numerical analysis is given in this paper.
