Abstract :
A method for solving problems of diffraction of elastic waves by systems of radial finite defects is presented. This method is based on the representation of the diffraction field in terms of discontinuous solutions of the Lame equations. If the defects are thin rigid inclusions, then the unknown stress discontinuities are determined by a system of singular integral equations. In the case of a system of cracks, the unknown displacement discontinuities satisfy a system of singular integro-differential equations. To solve this system, a modification of a familiar numerical method is suggested. In the case of two defects, the stress state is analyzed numerically.
