INVESTIGATIONS OF MECHANICAL PROPERTIES OF MATERIALS UNDER A SHOCK WAVE LOADING

A brief review of some specific features of deformation and fracture of various materials loaded by shock waves is presented. The experimental data which have not had yet an appropriate theoretical description are discussed. Also, new results of shock wave measurements are considered, including, for example, the mechanical properties of metals at elevated temperatures and failure waves in shock-compressed brittle materials.
