The LHCb trigger

This paper describes progress in the development of the LHCb trigger system since the Letter of Intent. The trigger philosophy has significantly changed, resulting in an increase of trigger efficiency for signal B events. It is proposed to implement a Level-1 vertex topology trigger in specialised hardware.
