Spallation neutron source moderator design

This paper describes various aspects of the Spallation Neutron Source (SNS) moderator design. Included are the effects of varying the moderator location, interaction effects between moderators, and the impact on neutron output when various reflector materials are used. Also included is a study of the neutron output from composite moderators, where it is found that a combination of liquid H2O and liquid H2 can produce a spectrum very similar to liquid methane (L-CH4).
