Abstract :
The linac emittance and current are limiting factors for the phase- space density and ion beam current for the multiturn injection into the storage ring of a HIIF driver. Chopping and Funneling sections shape the beam to match the beam to the storage rings. A system is described, which can double the effective ion current of the linac and the bunch charge in the storage ring without changing the basic linac parameters by an additional funneling stage.
