Equation of state of shock compressed plasma of metals

The chemical picture of plasma is used for analysis and calculations of the equation of state of shock compressed metals. Coulomb interaction, short-range repulsion, free electron degeneracy and multi-stage ionization are taken into account. Contributions of all plasma effects are studied. The procedure for the determination of the parameters of short-range atomic and ionic repulsion is discussed. The calculated equation of state is compared with experimental data.
