Abstract
The dilution of dispersive emittance in the main linac beam of a linear collider caused by uncorrelated energy spread and initial transverse jitter has been studied. A technique for the reduction of emittance growth based on the chromaticity compensation at the stage of beam injection into the main linac is proposed. It is shown that for high degrees of beam filamentation, application of the technique leads to a significant reduction of transversely deflecting wakefields.
