Development of a large area photodetector with a fast phosphor anode

We are developing a large area hybrid photodetector with a fast phosphor anode. A photodetector based on this concept has the advantage of fast response and simplicity of structure, potentially providing a cost-effective way to instrument large volumes with O ( 10 4 − 5 ) photodetectors in the next generation of water neutrino experiments. This paper presents the status of our R&D using an 8-in. prototype photodetector with “J9758” phosphor.
