Abstract
This paper presents a calibration procedure based on the least-squares method that enables an improvement of the precision of data through a functional relationship between variables. New and more precise values of physical quantities used as input data are determined using the information contained in the calibration curve. A simulation is provided in order to study the improvement in precision. The procedure was applied to the gamma-ray energies of 192Ir and 152Eu.
