Abstract
The core of the CMS experiment is a three layers Pixel detector. Installed in 2008, the CMS Pixel system is essential for track seeding and reconstruction of secondary vertices. The Pixel detector was designed for a peak luminosity of 10 34 cm − 2 s − 1 . In this contribution we summarize the operational experience of the first three years of collisions at the LHC. We present the measured performance evolution as the instantaneous luminosity delivered increased by several orders of magnitude, including dynamic data-losses, efficiency and resolution. The focus is on operational parameters, online calibrations and an overview of the challenges encountered to present.
