Abstract :
The procedure of calibration of a detector assembly consisting of a micro channel plate detector operated in a Chevron configuration is described. The analog particle gains of Ta ions with charge states ranging from q=10+ to 44+ and ion impact energies from 3.2 to 153.2 keV/q have been measured. For the investigated range of ion impact energies we have stated that for tantalum charge states of 10+–20+ the secondary ion–electron emission coefficient is dominated by the kinetic emission of electrons. Potential effects being visible for the charge states above 20+.
