Abstract
The prevailing impact of the internet since the popularity of social networks activities on student’s study habits cannot be overemphasized as this study was aimed to investigate the effect of internet and social services on university students’ study habits, examining how it affects their academic performances and understand the preliminary effect of their extensive presence on these social systems. It revealed that majority of university students engaged more on internet for social activities where an insignificant proportion (about 20%) are little or less concerned about their learning habits toward academic related activities, extensively engaging on internet social activities due to the curiosity and pleasure that places them as addicts. It significantly concluded on the account that the emergence of smartphones which is rapidly contributing to the vast internet usage and popularity of social network activities has made students more habitual to the internet and its social activities which pitifully, revealed a negative impact on their study habits and academic performances.
