Abstract
A method to measure the 90Sr soil specific activity in situ is described. It is based on the count-rate determination in selected energy ranges of hardware γ- and total γ- and β-spectra. The energy ranges of the measurements were defined by a numerical simulation of the detector model. To test the proposed method a portable device was developed. The accuracy of the 90Sr soil specific activity measurements is 30% for a minimum detectable activity of about 150 Bq/kg. The measurement data obtained by this technique are presented and compared with the results of traditional radiochemical methods.
