Abstract :
Geometrically metastable detectors consist of macroscopically thin superconducting metallic lamina held in a perpendicular magnetic field, which admit flux under irradiation. We describe their performance aspects, and present measurements of the 187Re decay obtained at 330 mK with a 25 μm thick natural rhenium strip. The results are assessed with respect to the device capability to provide high-resolution data in the near-endpoint region of the decay.
