  • Abstract
We are conducting experiments of self-amplified spontaneous emission (SASE) in the far-infrared region at ISIR, Osaka University by using a high brightness single-bunch beam from the L-band linac. As the first step, characteristics of the SASE-FEL are estimated using the one-dimensional analytic formulas and the measured characteristics of the electron beam. The calculated FEL parameter is 0.02 and the gain length is 0.14 m at an electron energy of 13 MeV and K=1.472. Recently, we observed a strong optical signal radiated from a single-bunch beam passing through the wiggler for the existing infrared FEL system.
