Proton-induced beauty production at fixed target energies

Experimental results on B hadro-production at fixed target energies do not fit over a smooth pattern. A new result from FNAL E-771, using an 800 GeV/c proton beam on a Si target, continues the trend of inconsistencies among experiments. A discussion of the 771 results versus the only other existing proton-induced data point, from FNAL E-789, is presented.
