Abstract
In this paper we first discuss a few theoretical considerations, concerning the pixel effect and its optimisation. Starting from the weighting potential, which takes into account the pixel size on detector thickness ratio (W/L), we continue with a simple statistical approach, taking in account the photon absorption profile, the μτ parameters, the longitudinal and transversal carrier diffusion. This calculation has shown, for each μτ, an optimal W/L ratio. Experimental results show that Travelling Heather Method (THM) material is very suitable for monolithic matrix device, as well as Bridgman or CZT materials, and sometimes better, according to its good transport properties.
