Abstract :
Yemen has been in the forefront of the war against internal and global terrorism and the challenge to the West of the local and global terrorist networks such as Al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula” (AQAP). In this paper I delineate several of the key social determinants for these challenges. The case of Yemen is used to illustrate social challenges for the growth and proliferation of terrorism emanating from Islamic extremism in other similar countries as well.
