Provision of IPTV on Optical Fibre Networks

High speed broadband services enables more data to be transmitted at any given time through the transmission medium which facilitate the provision of high quality internet services such as online gaming, voting and betting, media streaming, VoIP, IPTV, etc., [6]. The ideal way to obtain these services is via high–speed broadband internet [5] which could most effectively be achieved through a fibre optic network. This paper explains IPTV, discusses the network architecture, how IPTV can be offered over Ethernet and the technical requirements for IPTV.
