Abstract
The pixel detector of the ATLAS experiment at the LHC is a silicon vertex tracker consisting of 100 million 50×400 μm2 pixels. Sensors have been produced, able to withstand a radiation damage equivalent to the one induced by a fluence of 1015 1 MeV n/cm2, as expected after 10 years at the LHC. Prototypes of modules have shown both noise and threshold uniformity better than 200 e. Radiation hard version of the readout electronics is currently being tested.
