Abstract
LHCb is a second generation B physics experiment currently being commissioned at CERN. It aims to perform precise measurements of CP violation parameters and investigate rare phenomena in B hadron decays. B mesons will be produced copiously in PP collisions at s = 14 TeV at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC). To address its physics program, the LHCb collaboration has built a single-arm B hadron forward spectrometer at LHC interaction point 8. It is characterized by precise vertex reconstruction and tracking system, together with excellent particle identification and effective trigger. The main characteristics of the LHCb detectors and detector services are outlined and a glimpse of the experiment status is given.
