Abstract
The main goals of the BTeV experiment are to study mixing, CP violation, and rare decays of beauty and charm. The BTeV first level trigger will be based on tracks and vertices found in its silicon pixel vertex detector. A comprehensive discussion and the status of this unique pixel detector are discussed in the current paper. More detailed discussions of these topics are provided by other papers in this volume.
