Approaches to lowering emittance in existing light sources

Emittance reduction remains a singular goal for the synchrotron light community. The many tools available to achieve better phase space performance are described, and their successful application to existing facilities is highlighted. The demonstration of a factor of three emittance reduction with good lifetime for the Aladdin storage is discussed as a detailed example of the interplay of a variety of beam performance issues.
