Abstract :
The paper presents expressions describing the time-of-flight of charged particles in the emission system, taking into account the time-of-flight chromatic aberrations up to the fifth-order of the infinitesimal. The spatial time-of-flight characteristics of the axially symmetric emission system consisting of two equal-sized coaxial cylinders and a plane cathode were obtained. As for the system under consideration the authors determined conditions compensating for the first-order time-of-flight chromatic aberration at the expense of the fifth-order aberrations.
