Abstract
We present experimental magneto-optical (MO) Faraday rotation data obtained with linearly polarised soft X-ray synchrotron radiation at the 2p–3d resonance in Fe films. The dichroism of the dispersive and absorptive parts of the refraction index are compared with ab initio calculations based on the local approximation to spin-density functional theory.
