Abstract :
Total electron–ion–ion coincidence measurements on core excited organic molecules have been carried out with high mass resolution by using multimode (reflectron/linear) time-of-flight mass analyzer. From the ion correlation spectra of core excited CH3OH and CD3OH, the reaction pathway to form H3+ (D3+) is identified as the elimination of three H (D) atoms from the methyl group, not as the inter-group (–CH3 and –OH) interactions. In a PEPIPICO spectrum of acetylacetone (CH3COCH2COCH3) measured by using a reflectron TOF, correlations between ions up to mass number 70 with one-mass resolution was recorded.
