μ-XAFS beam line at Pohang Light Source

We have obtained a 2×3 μm2 focused beam with a gain of the order of 104 using Kirkpatrick–Baez mirrors on the X-ray microprobe beam line at Pohang Light Source. With the addition of a monochromator upstream of them these mirrors enable us to study the chemical state of materials by μ-XAFS. Before installing a fixed-exit type 4 crystal monochromator, we attempted μ-XAFS with a channel-cut crystal monochromator. To test the new capability, we chose to study a Cr foil in transmission and fluorescence modes.
