Abstract
The reconstruction of the Budapest Research Reactor (BRR) gave a good possibility to develop mixed neutron-gamma radiation fields for different applications like: simulation of operational spectra at power reactors, dosimeter development, neutron radiography, biological experiments. Recently, there are 3 horizontal channels available. In addition, isotopic neutron sources are in use in a separate laboratory. In a rotatable holder 4 different sources can be stored and automatically moved into irradiation position. There are changeable collimators and absorbers to modify the spectrum. In the large hall there are possibilities to study the room scatter, angular dependence of detectors, phantom albedo effect etc. Recently available sources are different Pu–Be (from 105–107 n/s yield), Ra–Be and Cf.
