Abstract
The Multigap Resistive Plate Chamber (MRPC), operated in avalanche mode, has excellent time resolution with high efficiency and is a candidate for the Time-of-Flight detector for the STAR experiment at the RHIC. Since 1998 we have been developing MRPCs appropriate for STAR. In this paper we present the latest results obtained during the year 2000. We measured a time resolution of 50 ps with an efficiency of 98% with MRPCs composed of 6 gas gaps of 220 μm.
