Abstract
The Gas Electron Multiplier (GEM) (Nucl. Instr. and Meth. A 386 (1991) 531) based detectors have been widely developed in last years and proposed for many different applications. In order to reach a better understanding of such kind of detector the computer simulation is an important and powerful tool. In this paper the method for a GEM-based detector simulation and the results obtained are discussed and compared with experimental data. A good agreement has been found making this method a promising tool for detector study and optimization.
