Analysis of a helical quadrupole focusing channel

A helical quadrupole focusing channel has continuous field symmetry. This good field symmetry allowed us to construct an explicit transfer matrix under a paraxial approximation. A paraxial analysis of the helical quadrupole focusing channel, a comparison of the beam size with a conventional quadrupole focusing channel and a comparison of the capture angle with a solenoid channel are reported.
