Status of the MuScat experiment

A precise knowledge of the multiple scattering of muons is necessary in order to understand the optimisation of the muon-cooling stage of a Neutrino Factory. The MuScat experiment aims to accurately determine the multiple scattering of 180 MeV/c muons. A technical run performed in 2000 is described as well as the design of a new scintillating fibre detector which will be used to take the final data in 2002.
