Abstract
An overview of the CMS pixel detector is presented. This detector consists of about 45 million pixels arranged in three barrel layers and two disks on each side of the interaction point. It provides vertex finding and b-quark identification. The geometry and configuration of both the barrel and the forward disks are shown. Developments of electronics for readout and control are described and recent progress on sensor development is presented. In conclusion, the expected performance of the detector is shown.
