Position-sensitive low-temperature detectors

Position-sensitive detectors are under development for various applications. These detectors are well suited for applications where the rate of detected photons is low and large area detectors are desired. They also may be used in applications where the required pixel size is smaller than the smallest single- pixel detectors that can be built today. I will review the present status of this technology as well as the trade-offs inherent in their design. Different approaches to position resolution in a detector will be discussed along with future concepts for very large format arrays.
