173Lu and other radioisotopes production possibilities on medium energy linear proton accelerator for their use in radiographic equipment

In this article, possible ways for production of 173Lu and other radioactive nuclides for their use as radiation sources for crack detectors in gamma defectoscopes are considered. Comparative characteristics of sources based on 75Se and 173Lu are given. Isotope 173Lu can be produced by two ways: either by a primary beam of medium energy protons or by fast neutron irradiation with proton-driven neutron target according to the reaction 175Lu(n, 3n)173Lu. Estimation of isotope container activation under production of 173Lu has been made.
