Abstract :
Stripline is a beam diagnostics device used to measure beam position/phase in particle accelerators. In general, the wall-current model is used for the analysis of a stripline of finite angular width. In this model, the beam induced magnetic flux, which goes across the loop, is taken negligible small. Thus only the wall current induced on the surface of stripline is taken into account and the beam induced inductive current is neglected. A typical stripline used for a general stripline monitor has finite difference in radii of outer conductor (R0) and strip (Rin). In this case the beam induced magnetic flux and also inductive current, passing across the loop, cannot be neglected. This modifies the net current passing through the loop/strip. Thus the net current passing through the loop is not only a function of angular width of strip but it also depends on radii of strip and outer conductor. This gives stripline output which is different than what is expected using wall-current model. In this paper we present a modified expression for output signal of a stripline which varies as log of ratio of radii of outer and inner conductors. We are also presenting simulation results obtained using CST studio suite to confirm our statements.
