Abstract
By covering the inelastic scattering region from ≈0.005 to 50 eV, neutron spectrometers at third-generation pulsed sources will be able to provide much new information on the dynamics of protons and protonated groups in peptides. Joint analyses of data from molecular spectroscopy instruments and the Compton spectrometer at ISIS give a good idea of the scope of future work at MW spallation sources. Key interpretational issues are discussed and the need for developing relevant MD simulations is stressed.
