Abstract :
Alpha particles were measured with a superconducting series-junction detector. The effective area and thickness of the detector are given by a circle of 0.5 mm in diameter and 500 μm Al2O3, respectively. The risetime of the charge-sensitive preamplifiers, i.e. charge collection time of the detector, was about 5 μs. An energy resolution of 0.35% was obtained for 5.5 MeV α particles.
