Abstract
The application of Superheated Droplet Detectors (SDDs) to dark matter searches has been confined to the spin-dependent (SD) sector owing to the high content of fluorine of these refrigerants (C2ClF5, C4F10, C3F8, etc.). Given the competitive results of these devices, because of their thermodynamically tunable insensitivity to spurious background particles (μ−, e−), we examine the potential impact of a heavy SDD loaded with trifluoroiodomethane (CF3I) in the spin-independent (SI) sector.
