Abstract
An advantageous configuration has been devised for a debuncher system with application to a high-intensity linac envisioned. The debuncher system consists of two RF (Radio Frequency) cavities, each of which is used as a tuning knob for either of the momentum spread adjustment or the centroid momentum jitter correction. This “separate-function” nature of the configuration considerably simplifies the tuning procedure for the RF set points. In addition, this system is less sensitive to the phase error originated from the centroid momentum deviation at the linac exit. Theoretical background of the configuration is discussed with a simplified analytical model, which is followed by a particle simulation for a practical example to validate the design strategy.
