Abstract :
This paper propounds an unified model for the different phases of growth of microbial populations in a closed system: ±M−mM−ζ1+M−m0−M−ζ1+M2MlnM±M−mM+M−m0+M−ζ1−M2MlnM∓M−mM−M−m0=−k1t m and m0 are the number (or mass) of microorganisms per unit volume at time t and zero time respectively, M is the maximum number (or mass) of microorganisms per unit volume, ξ1 and k1 are the constants, the upper signs in ‘±’ and ‘∓’ correspond to the increasing phase of microbial growth process, and the lower signs correspond to the decreasing phase. By the model, we got a good fit to the data obtained from batch culture.
