Abstract :
Following the Leslie and Markov matrices, a matrix model was developed to define the weed seedbank population dynamic and its vertical distribution. The model predicts the stable age and vertical distribution of seeds. Data on Avena sterilis (winter wild oat) was used to show the application of the model. The model predicts that 98% of seeds of Avena sterilis correspond to new seeds and 62% are distributed in the top 10 cm within the soil.
