Abstract :
In the present work, a simple co-precipitation route was employed to synthesize 0.7 Pb(Mg1/3Nb2/3)O3–0.3 PbTiO3 hereafter abbreviated as (0.7) PMN–(0.3) PT ferroelectric system without any pyrochlore phase. The effect of various sintering temperatures from 600 °C to 1300 °C on the phase formation has been studied by means of X-ray diffraction technique (XRD). The effect of various sintering temperatures on the microstructure was also studied using scanning electron microscopy (SEM). The compositional analysis of (0.7) PMN–(0.3) PT sample was carried out by energy dispersive X-ray analysis (EDAX). Further, it is observed that sintering temperature strongly affects on electrical properties such as DC resistivity (ρDC), dielectric constant (ɛ′) and AC conductivity (σAC) of (0.7) PMN–(0.3) PT. Variation of the dielectric constant with temperature for (0.7) PMN–(0.3) PT shows a peak behavior indicating transition temperature at 110 °C. There are possibilities of employing this material in applications such as multi-layer capacitor (MLC), sensors, actuators, transducers.
