Abstract
Single crystals of the fullerene C60 are grown by the Pizzarello method from the vapor phase in argon atmosphere. In most cases, crystals contained {1 1 1} twinning planes. Atomic force microscopy (AFM) revealed triangular structures on the (1 1 1) surface of C60 single crystals. In the molecular-scale images, C60 molecules were resolved in a FCC structure with a spacing of 9.5±0.4 إ between adjacent molecules.
