Telematics for education and training: an overview of the DELTA programme

In 1986 the European Commission started the first systematic work on technologies for education and training. This exploratory action was called DELTA (Developing European Learning through Technology Advance). This paper details the background of this action and presents an overview of activities to date. Future R&D activities within the EU Fourth Framework Program is discussed, in particular with respect to telematics for education and training.
