Abstract :
The aim of the present research is to study the role of attachment and loss of parents at the
age of below 18 in individuals suffering from dependency on opium referring to National
Center for Addiction Studies. In terms of aim the present study is an applied research and an
empirical study. Sampling has been performed randomly among the individuals suffering
from opium abuse (how have the criteria for being included in the study) who have referred
to the National Center for Addiction Studies. Also, a control group has been selected from
adults who don’t have the experience of drug abuse (from the nearest medical centers to the
place of research conduction. The results of this study indicate that insecure-avoidant
attachment style in individuals who have lost their parents, is 0.96 times of those individuals
who havenʹt experience the loss of their parents and also the existence of Ambivalent
insecure attachment style in those who have lost their parents is 1.49 times of those who
havenʹt experience the loss of their parents (OR=1.49) that this relationship isnʹt significant
also.
